Wind and rain was the weather pattern at Pine Tree CDE today. Morning was warm but very windy. Shortly after the lunch break the clouds that were building let loose and rain fell in torrants for a couple of hours. The poor volunteers were left to huddle under umbrellas as the tents had long ago been taken down, or blown down.
Kate Shields really wowed judges Boots Wright and Dana Bright scoring just 29 penalties in the Intermediate single horse class. Unfortunately a trace came undone during cones (in the rain) and she incurred extra penalties there. Full results can be found at www.drivingnews.us
The rain stopped just as the competition came to an end, and it looks like it will be a lovely day tomorrow for the marathon. The competitors’ dinner was held at Big Sky under the tent and the overhang of the barn. Beef tenderloin and roast turkey along with numerous sides and salads boosted everyone’s spirits.
