We arrived late afternoon just in time to take advantage of one of many new things at Live Oak this year – the Charles Owen competitors’ party tent (this may not be the official name). It is located near the entrance to the dressage arena, and will offer food and drink throughout the competition. I think I read on the LO website that it won’t be open until after dressage is finished for the day. Probably a good thing!
Announcer Geoff Morgan and his wife Ann had dinner for us, the Ettengers (where we are staying) and Bernd Stangelmeier (FEI vet) and his wife. It was a lovely start to the weekend. Dr. Stangelmeier is checking each horse and pony as they arrive making sure to the best of his ability that all competition horses are healthy.
Still lots of activity this morning. Tents, flowers, vendors, – more and bigger than ever are being set up. Last year’s Budweiser Blast obstacle is now the Stella Stampede – sponsored by Stella Artois beer! Definitely an upgrade!
The jury is looking at the course, competitors are picking up their packets.
The forecast is for a storm to come through just about the time of the Horse Inspection. Let’s hope not.
